OOur Champions

Hunter is truly a SOLID dog.  The numerous ROM's on both sides of his pedigree reflect not only the quality, but the consistency in his breeding lines, and his temperament is totally sound.
During his brief show career Hunter earned multiple BOB, group placements and the first Award of Merit at the 2004 Rocky Mountain Akita Club specialty.  Unfortunately Hunter isn't fond of the show ring, so his career as a special never really got off the ground.
Hunter has sired several litters of outstanding quality puppies, many of which have either achieved their AKC championships or are major pointed.  We are very pleased with his accompishments as a sire; he has been passing his wonderful temperament, his massive head and bone, and his overall balance to his offspring.
Hunter is OFA Good, elbows normal, AVCO clear 2006 and thyroid normal.

"Mikah"
Mikah represents the best from both her sire and her dam.  She is incredibly easy to live with, gets along with ALL the other dogs, and loves all humans large and small.  She is the most easy going dog we have ever had, and one of the sweetest too, with kisses for everyone.  And she passes that great temperament on to her puppies.
The area where Mikah has been REALLY exceptional is as a brood bitch.  It doesn't seem to matter if she's linebred or outcrossed, she has produced excellence and consistency in every litter. Her first litter in November 2005 produced three AKC champions who are multi-BOB and GROUP winners, including the #1 Akita in Finland in 2007 and the #8 Akita in the US in 2008.  Mikah's second breeding in 2006 resulted in two more champions amd earmed Mikah a much deserved Register Of Merit (ROM).  Her last litter in March 2008 produced several more show prospects, among them Tessa and Ava, already major pointed and pictured on our "Rising Stars" page.
Mikah is OFA Good, AVCO clear and MSU thyroid normal.

CH Kiowa's Black Cyn Ghost Witch  "Rhyan"
We are thrilled with how Walker turned out.  He has huge bone, exceptional movement, clean coming and going, and powerful side gait.  Plus he has the sweetest, most playful and loving temperament.  The picture at right doesn't do him justice; you just have to see him in person to really appreciate him.
Walker turned 3 years old in January and hadn't been shown in over a year, so we decided to show him "just for fun" in 4 recent shows.  To our complete delight, he went BOB all four days, receiving "cuts" in the group every day and very nice feedback from judges on his balance and proportion.  Walker sired an awesome litter of puppies with CH Mikah in late 2006, which produced CH Quincey.  He also sired a litter with CH Carsyn in March 2008, producing CH Mandy, pictured below.
Something that can't be shown on a photo is this big dog's amazing temperament.  While some adult males won't tolerate puppies, Walker loves to play with them, lays down in the yard and lets them climb all over him.  He plays daily with our three young females and is totally patient and gentle, never grumbly or even a hint of intolerance.  We  think that's pretty impressive and speaks volumes about temperament and stability.
Walker is OFA Excellent, elbows normal, AVCO clear, and MSU thyroid normal.

"Allye"
Allye is our Hunter-Rhyan granddaughter, and she is a wonderful representation of her ancestry. Her movement is absolutely clean coming and going and her side gait is exquisite.  She finished her championship in grand style by going Best of Breed over specials for her final major.
Allye is Miss Congeniality and Miss Eyewitness News rolled into one gorgeous girl.  We refer to her as our "Allye Cat" because she's the dog who can always find the weak spot in our security fencing and goes visiting the horses, alpacas and the other dogs in the neighborhood.  She never goes far and never causes a ruckus with the other animals, just likes to socialize and see what's going on.
Allye is OFA Excellent, OFA elbows normal, AVCO clear and MSU thyroid normal.
Theo finished his championship at 11 months of age in only 5 weeends.  This was just an early illustration of his enormous potential.  He went on to win a Group 2 his first weekend out as a special, then in a few short months of further competition, he achieved numerous BOB's, several other group placements and a prestigous GROUP ONE in a Working Group comprised of some of the country's top winning dogs. All of this was accomplished before he turned 2 years old.
Now Theo's home to do some growing up, with occasional shows to keep in practice. This photo was taken in February 2008 where Theo took a Group 3 at the huge CKC-Plum Creek shows.  He earned an AOM at the Rocky Mtn Akita Club specialty, along with placing first in Stud Dog competition.  Theo competed in the Top 20 at the Akita National Specialty and has earned an invitation to the 2008 Eukanuba Invitational.
In addition to being an outstanding show competitor, Theo has also proved himself as a worthy stud dog.  He sired a litter of 8 very nice puppies in October 2007.  Two of those puppies have already earned their championships.  Theo is also producing exceptionally mild and stable temperaments, much like his own and both his sire and dam..  He is a joy to live with.
Theo is OFA Excellent, OFA elbows normal, AVCO clear and MSU thyroid normal.

Quincey is our keeper puppy from CH Walker and CH Mikah.  We couldn't be happier with the way she's grown up.  She's everything we were hoping to get out of the breeding: big bone, great structure, excellent movement, and a super confident, friendly, outgoing and loving puppy.
Quincey started her show career in May 2007 by taking Winners Bitch her first time in the show ring and earning her first points.  Her second show weekend she took a Best Puppy in Show!! She continued her winning ways the following weekend with a Puppy Group 2.  In just two months of showing Quincey amassed 10 points and one major, all from puppy class.  And then the vet shaved her belly for an ultrasound exam so she didn't compete from July '07 until February '08.  Her first weekend in the ring again, she promptly finished her championship.  She's definitely got the right stuff!!  And WOW!!  She has matured beautifully!!
Quincey is OFA Excellent, OFA Elbows Normal, CERF clear and MSU Thyroid normal.

"Mandy"
Mandy is growing up to look very much like her dam Carsyn.  She has the same beautiful typey head, small dark eyes, gorgeous coat, balanced body, sound structure and stunning movement of her mother, but it looks like she'll be even better.
We are so proud of Mandy........ her first time in the ring at just 6 months and 12 days old, she went WB/BOW for her first points out of the Bred-By-Exhibitor class. The next week, she won her 6-9 month Puppy class at the 2008 Akita National Specialty.  Then in Rapid City SD, she went WB for her first major at just 7 months of age, once again out of Bred-By class.  Mandy added two more wins at the huge Rocky Mtn cluster in February and picked up a 5 point major in Garden City, KS the first weekend in March.  At her next show in March, having barely turned 12 months old, she finished her championship in style with another 4 point major from Bred-By class.
Mandy has managed to capture the fancy of those who've seen her both inside and outside the show ring.  Judges are awed by her typiness, balance and movement, and exhibitors/spectators just love her too.  You rock Mandy!!
